This one day course is held seasonally in the stunning surrounds of High Dam near Newby Bridge on the edge of the Lake District in Cumbria.
The day starts at 10.30am with introductions and a series of creative warm up exercises, then the group will begin the walk up to High Dam, the entire days walk is approximately a mile and a half with a gentle incline at the start, but it is broken into short sections as the group stops to complete photography tasks along the way.
These are practical exercises for Beginner and intermediate photographers, with plenty of opportunity for 121 tuition on your own area of difficulty. We cap the day at 8 delegates to ensure that you get lots of help if you need it.
In the morning we cover composition hints, creative exposures and landscape tips, giving delegates a chance to step outside of their usual way of working and try something new.
Lunch is provided in the form of a luxury ploughman’s picnic with artisan breads, cheese, chutneys and pies, tea and coffee, and it is a great chance to relax and chat with fellow photographers.
After lunch we move into portrait work with our model, we look at posing and working with a figure within the landscape.
And then we head back down at around 3pm and often pop to the Lakeside Hotel for one of their scrummy hot chocolates to finish off.
As a qualified teacher as well as a professional photographer, Eleanor has put this lake district day together as a very fun, hands on and practical photography day course, that gives the opportunity to learn practically by doing.
Afterwards you will receive a PDF breakdown of the day and if you wish, Eleanor will give you a helpful critique of a selection of your work made on the day. We post about the day on our blog and will also include a sample of your work if you wish.
“Thanks for a great day shooting in the Lake District, we got so much out of it and had such a lovely time, we will be back for more!” Greta and Stuart McGough
